I wore down the tip on my Wenzel hiking pole and was bummed because I thought I was going to have to "retire" it and get a new pole when I saw these and decided to take a shot. I got a little drastically creative and propped my pole over the burner on my stove hoping that if the tip was glued on this would soften the glue. Didn't take long to heat that baby up so I grabbed a potholder and a pair of pliers and the original tip came right off. Yay! Waited for the pole to cool a bit and slid on my new tip, pushing down on it by hand and then leaning on the pole on my doormat. It seemed to set well and I figured it would settle even further when I used it on the trail (which it did.) I'm a happy hiker now that I can use my favorite hiking pole and have good traction back. The only drawback is that it's not threaded for my snow basket to be added but I have a secondary pole that does so I can use that for my winter hiking. Very happy with this purchase.

These carbide tips are a perfect fit for my trekking poles. They are great.
I've never changed tips before, so a small one line instruction/tip page would have been nice. I didn't know how to remove the old tips. They were so tight, I thought I might have to cut them off. Installation of the news ones went better, but I have not been able to slide them all the way up on the poles. Is there a trick that might help the novice?
Maybe using a lubricate that dries later is what I should do.

I needed to repair a broken tip on my 20 year old Komperdell poles and these worked perfectly. I spiral cut the old tip with heavy wire cutters, then peeled it off (no way it was coming straight off), then jammed the new tip on. Perfect fit.

After years of use, the carbide tips had worn down. I saw that replacement tips are available. This is a perfect product.

There are no directions, but what I found here and there on the internet was helpful. First, I placed the ends of my trekking poles in boiling water for two or three minutes. Using two pairs of pliers (protected metal shaft of trekking pole with a bit of rubber), I was able to pull off the old tip without too much difficulty. When I tried to fit the new tip, it did not slide on to the same position. So, I pulled off the new tip, immersed the open end in boiling water for about 30 sec, and was then able to push it fully onto the metal shaft.

I originally bought a pair of the replacement parts for my husband's well-worn Komperdell tips. He was so impressed with the extra stability it added to his poles, that I decided to purchase a pair for myself.

I would have given five stars to this item, but there were no directions how to replace the tips, so my husband had to determine this on his own. After reading somewhere online, that another person had ruined his poles trying to remove the old tips and put the new ones on, he found that the new pair could( with a little effort) fit over the old. We are not sure if this is the correct way to assemble the tips, but it works for us.

Yep, I wore the end, and the tungsten carbide tip, completely off a Komperdell stick. I was able to knock the destroyed tip off using a crescent wrench dialed down to just slide over the walking stick body. (Do a search on YouTube for the technique.) The new tip went right on and press fit perfectly into place. New Stick!

I purchased these replacement tips for my old REI Komperdell hiking poles, which had completely worn tips. It worked out great. I succeeded in removing the OLD tips by slicing their rubber lengthwise along the pole. I used a hacksaw blade, and cut JUST down to the metal of the pole. Then it was easy to split off the old tips. Then I put a gob of shoe goo cement in the new tips and PUSHED then onto the bare pole tip. I then balanced the poles UPRIGHT with a WEIGHT on the top to keep PUSHING the tips on while the goo dried a couple days, as the compressed air in the pole tended to push the new tips off again. RESULT: virtually new poles!! :)
